White billboard

2023

public art project,demotions variable

In a world of non-stop "content", the meaning and power of words are often overshadowed by images. The city moves at an extraordinary speed, forcing constant negotiation of rapid political and technological changes. This pace plays directly into the hands of those who exploit limited attention spans. In a "content war" where misinformation floods the media, a single image can carry more weight than a thousand words, causing many to become disengaged from complex realities.

White Billboard interrupts the chaotic city landscape. It presents a blank surface on which the word "peace" (МИР) is written in Braille. Because Braille requires specific knowledge to read, the message remains hidden from casual visual consumption, leaving the question of understanding and communication. The decision to use the Ukrainian word for "peace" (МИР) instead of English acknowledges that the meaning of the concept carries a completely different weight depending on where one is in the world. The work explores what happens when we ignore deeper meaning in favor of what is easy to digest. It reminds us that when we lose the ability to slow down and read the world, the truth remains unseen.
